  • Mitigating bias: AI systems should be designed to mitigate bias and ensure fairness. Human judgement is needed for an AI system to understand the nuances of social contexts. 
  • Protecting privacy and security: Privacy should be “top-of-mind” in the development of AI systems. They should be designed to protect the privacy and security of user data. 
  • Ensuring transparency and accountability: AI systems should be transparent and accountable, so that users can understand how they work and make informed decisions about their use. This includes defining situations when automated decisions are acceptable and when human oversight should be involved.
